1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using MeshTalk ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the App.

2. About MeshTalk

MeshTalk is an offline mesh communication application developed by Team ZEDOX for the Microsoft Imagine Cup 2025 competition. The App enables peer-to-peer communication using WiFi Direct technology without requiring internet connectivity.

3. Use License

MeshTalk is provided under the MIT License as open-source software. You are granted permission to:

  • Use the App for personal, educational, or commercial purposes
  • Modify the source code
  • Distribute copies of the App
  • Contribute to the project development

Subject to the conditions outlined in the MIT License available in our GitHub repository.

4. Beta Software Disclaimer

IMPORTANT: MeshTalk is currently in BETA development phase as part of Imagine Cup 2025. The App may contain bugs, errors, or incomplete features. Use at your own risk.

  • Features may change without notice
  • Service interruptions may occur
  • Data loss may happen during updates
  • No guarantee of continuous operation

5. User Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Use the App legally and ethically
  • Not use the App for illegal activities
  • Not transmit harmful, threatening, or abusive content
  • Not attempt to hack, disrupt, or damage the App
  • Respect other users' privacy and data
  • Comply with all local laws regarding communication

6. Prohibited Uses

You must NOT use MeshTalk to:

  • Transmit illegal content
  • Harass, threaten, or harm others
  • Spread misinformation or malware
  • Violate intellectual property rights
  • Impersonate others
  • Interfere with network security

7. Privacy & Data

MeshTalk is designed with privacy in mind:

  • No Cloud Servers: All communication is peer-to-peer
  • Local Storage: Messages stored only on your device
  • No Tracking: We do not collect analytics or user data
  • Your Responsibility: You control what data you share

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. Team ZEDOX disclaims all warranties, including but not limited to:

  • Merchantability
  • Fitness for a particular purpose
  • Non-infringement
  • Uninterrupted or error-free operation
  • Accuracy of AI translations
  • Reliability of emergency detection

9. Limitation of Liability

Team ZEDOX shall NOT be liable for:

  • Any damages arising from use of the App
  • Loss of data or messages
  • Inability to communicate during emergencies
  • Incorrect AI translations
  • Missed emergency messages
  • Device damage or battery drain
  • Third-party actions on the network

10. Emergency Use Disclaimer

CRITICAL: MeshTalk is NOT a replacement for official emergency services (911, 112, etc.). In life-threatening situations:

  • Always call official emergency numbers first
  • Do not rely solely on MeshTalk for emergencies
  • The AI emergency detection may have false positives/negatives
  • Message delivery is not guaranteed

11. AI Translation Accuracy

While MeshTalk uses Google ML Kit for translation:

  • Translations may not be 100% accurate
  • Context and nuance may be lost
  • Critical communications should be verified
  • We are not responsible for translation errors

12. Device Permissions

MeshTalk requires the following permissions:

  • Location: Required by Android for WiFi Direct (we don't track location)
  • WiFi State: To detect and connect to nearby devices
  • Storage: To save messages locally

We only use permissions for stated functionality.

13. Open Source

MeshTalk is open source under MIT License. Source code is available at:

14. Age Restrictions

MeshTalk is intended for users aged 13 and above. Users under 13 must have parental consent.

15. Modifications to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Changes will be posted on our website and GitHub repository. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

16. Termination

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend access to MeshTalk for violations of these terms, though enforcement is limited due to the decentralized nature of the App.

17. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes shall be resolved in courts of [Your City], India.

18. Imagine Cup Participation

MeshTalk is a student project for Microsoft Imagine Cup 2025. By using the App during the competition period, you acknowledge this is a demonstration/prototype.

19. No Commercial Use (During Beta)

During the beta phase, MeshTalk is provided free of charge. Commercial use or resale without permission is prohibited.

21. Severability

If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.

22. Entire Agreement

These Terms & Conditions, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Team ZEDOX regarding MeshTalk.
